Attrition & weighting

A longitudinal claim is only as good as its known dispositions. Below: who responded, who lapsed, who we genuinely cannot reach, and how much of the headline estimate is adjustment rather than data.

Subgroup response gaps

Bars show wave-2 response rate. The marker is the cohort average — anything far left is where the weights are doing the work.

Read this before the headline. First-generation and part-time participants respond 10–14 points below average, so the weighted employment estimate leans on roughly 1 in 6 respondents to stand in for them.
