Overview
Resourcely made cloud infrastructure easier for developers to configure within security rules. Platform teams defined approved templates and guardrails; developers used those templates to produce infrastructure code. Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, acquired Resourcely in 2025. Its founder confirmed the acquisition, but did not disclose its terms or explain whether the standalone product would continue. Resourcely founder · Terraform Registry

Founding Story
Travis McPeak and Aladdin Almubayed founded Resourcely after working on security problems at Netflix. McPeak told TechCrunch that his security team had tried to give developers secure defaults without slowing their work. McPeak told TechCrunch: “The goal is to make developers’ lives way simpler and easier” The company sought to make a similar approach available beyond Netflix. TechCrunch reported the company launched in 2021, while Resourcely's later profile says 2022; the exact founding year is therefore uncertain. TechCrunch · Resourcely

What They Built
A developer who needs a cloud storage bucket must choose settings for access, encryption, naming, and other details. Resourcely offered a blueprint: a configuration template that exposed selected choices while embedding the organization's preferred defaults. The developer's selections generated Terraform code for review in a normal pull request. Terraform Registry · DevOps.com
Guardrails added a separate check. Resourcely's documentation says a rule could require approval for a public storage bucket or restrict allowed compute instances. It examined proposed infrastructure changes and could prevent a merge when a rule was violated. Templates helped produce a compliant change; checks caught violations before deployment. Neither mechanism alone establishes that every cloud resource was secure. Terraform Registry
Market Position
Resourcely addressed platform, infrastructure, and security teams that wanted developers to provision resources without repeatedly asking specialists for help. Its combination of templates and policy checks competed with a wide set of internal developer portals, infrastructure orchestration products, and policy tools. Today, for example, Spacelift offers governed infrastructure workflows, while Backstage integrations can provide a self-service interface over Terraform. A replacement would enter an active market.
Business Model
The company introduced a free tier in 2024. A company post later advertised paid packages starting at $2,000 per month with a trial. That historical price is not evidence of current availability, customer count, or revenue. DevOps.com · Resourcely
Outcome and evolution
McPeak announced in July 2025: “Resourcely has been acquired by Anysphere!” a16z's infrastructure portfolio also lists Resourcely as acquired by Cursor. Public sources reviewed here do not disclose transaction value, customer migration terms, or which Resourcely technology Cursor incorporated. A third-party directory reports that the hosted service is no longer available, but that observation should not be read as a detailed official shutdown notice. Founder · a16z · FAUN
Key Lessons
Resourcely placed policy where developers created infrastructure, rather than relying only on later security reviews. The design still required specialists to maintain templates and rules. The acquisition establishes a change in ownership; it does not establish the startup's financial performance or its buyer's exact product plans.
